Kavivar Gopal Singh Nepali’s birth centenary celebrated. President Ms Pratibha Devisingh Patil received the book “Meri Rahi Kahani Kewal” from Kavivar Gopal Singh Nepali Foundation, on the occasion of the Birth Centenary Celebration of Kavivar Gopal Singh ‘Nepali’.
Born in 1913 at Bettiah, Gopal Singh Nepali was one of the most renowned Hindi poets of all time. His poems evoke patriotism, love for nature and humane values. He also wrote lyrics of a few Hindi films. His famous poetry collection includes - 'Umang', 'Panchhi', 'Ragini' and 'Nilima'. He died in 1963.

=>Poet Gopal Singh was not a Nepali but has taken this as a part of his literary name.

As per Mr. Nakul his father Gopal Singh Nepali originally wrote the song. Actually, the song is originally from the movie Narsi Bhagat (1957) written by Gopal Singh Nepali. But in the movie Slumdog Millionaire the author of the song "Darshan Do Ghanshyam" is said to be the blind poet Surdas.
